Lockleaze Youth Eco Team Train Trip

Recently the amazing Lockleaze Youth Eco Team visited Temple Meads Railway station using the nearest, and newest station, Ashley Down. This is our partnership project with Unfold Community Arts supported by Ovo Foundation.

We arranged the trip so we could talk about sustainable transport whilst using it, and to find out more about the refurbishment at Temple Meads. It was the first time most of the group had used this station and they had the opportunity to give feedback about the experience.

We were welcomed to Temple Meads by two friendly GWR Ambassadors who gave us an amazing tour and answered all of our questions. We had a preview of the new entrance, found out about the improved transport links and got to try some of the newly installed accessible features for passengers.

We also had a look at the refuse collection area to see just how much waste the 10 million visitors per year to Temple Meads generate.

As some of the group are currently taking their GCSEs, our ambassadors were able to provide information about the many roles and career pathways available in GWR.

Our thanks to Severnside Community Rail Partnerships, and GWR for providing the opportunity and warm welcome. It is through our connections and partnerships that Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust can bring increased opportunities to residents.
