Monday Motivation - Getting my 'fit' together at 50.

Getting my ‘fit’ together at 50!

  • Boot Camp-Ascension Strength and Conditioning

  • Park Work Out under the M32

  • Walking on alternate days

When I turned 40 I began the menopause and my mental and physical health began to be affected so I decided to try and do something to help.

I joined the local Couch25k group! Boy did I find out how unfit I was! I stuck with it and eventually could run without dying! Then I decided I needed more. Feeling self-conscious and combined with membership costs I decided the gym wasn't for me, so I looked around and found Drop a Jean Size group with Gary Rowley and joined.

I did achieve my goal of becoming fitter and decided to attend the small group sessions at Ascension Strength and Conditioning with Gary.

I really noticed the improvement in my mental health and as an added bonus I made some really good friends and lost inches!

Then lockdown happened and training went online and Zoom Camp was born -we didn't give up, we kept supporting each other alongside Gary’s guidance and encouragement, and when it was safe to, we moved outdoors. We still train outdoors, whatever the weather. Yes, even in the rain! You just have to come dressed appropriately.

This is now something I prioritize- for myself. Something for me-it's my time to get rid of the stresses of the day as well as catching up with the team.

With encouragement and support I have surprised myself with what I have achieved and what I'm willing to try. I’m even thinking of trying Muay Thai Boxing with Combat Warriors! – ran by Gary Rowley.

And no I am not his stalker!!He encourages you to get out of your comfort zone.

Now, I am physically active 6-7 days a week! Unless I am on holiday!

Come and give it a go, you just might surprise yourself. If I can do it, anyone can do it!
