Fancy having a bike hanger on your street?

Funding for new cycle hangars across the West of England

A new consultation is being launched by the West of England Combined Authority.

Funding has been secured from the central government’s Active Travel Fund for 80 new “cycle hangars” – secure, on-street weather-proof storage for bikes – and we’d like residents to let us know where these should be located.

We’re working on this project in partnership with your local councils – Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire to encourage more people to travel by bike. Cycling is an important mode of sustainable transport, and can improve health and wellbeing, and at the same time help reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.

Being able to park bikes safely and conveniently plays a vital role in whether people can choose to cycle. By installing new cycle hangars on residential roads, we hope to make the choice a little bit easier.

People can get involved and suggest locations for cycle hangars by visiting our dedicated website: www.cyclehangarswest.co.uk

The consultation runs between Monday 2 October and Sunday 29 October 2023.
