Lockleaze Strollers, Wellbeing Walks - having an impact.
On a lovely sunny day on the 12th October, 11 local residents joined the Lockleaze Strollers to do a free, guided, gentle walk to the Duchess Pond in Stoke Park.
We made a point of stopping to notice different things. This included identifying different trees, many of which we didn't know, as well as taking photos of "one of the best views in Bristol".
I asked the walkers what they thought about the walk and here's what they had to say:
"really enjoyed the walk",
"wonderful walk",
"really friendly group",
"helped me get to know some nice new people",
"opened my eyes to things on my doorstep, not been to before, like the pond".
"found out there are lots of carp in the pond",
"noticed things that I wouldn't usually notice, such as lots of birds in the trees, identified different trees and fungi growing"
"It would be great if more people joined us on the walk".
Please see below some of the lovely photographs which different walkers took during our time together.
You would be most welcome to join us on the next walk. The walks are designed for people of all abilities. Save the date. Next walk in Stoke Park on Wednesday 9th November.
Meet at the Hub at 10.25am. Walk lasts from 10.30am- 12 o'clock.
Please bring: suitable shoes, coat, hat, gloves and water. You would also be most welcome to join us for a cuppa and a bite to eat afterwards in the Hubbub cafe back at the Hub.
