Could you be a Councillor?
The Council are encouraging people to think about being a Councillor, they are running some events - see there message below:
We are hosting two ‘Be a councillor’ events in November for residents in Bristol, and we are also asking organisations like yours to act as an informed advocate by sending a representative to join us at an event. Please register your attendance using the links below. More information on the opportunities available to engage with local democratic processes can be found by visiting our website.
I have also attached two posters which you might like to share with your networks or on your notice boards.
Do you know people in your network that are curious about the role of a councillor and what it involves? Do you know someone who should stand for public office now or in the future?
If you know of anyone who would make a great local community representative, please tell them about these events. Attendees can speak to a cross party panel of Bristol councillors and find out what being a Councillor involves.
Now is the perfect time to start this conversation as political parties make their candidate selections for local government elections in 2024 and independent candidates can find out all they need to know about standing for public office.
