Lockleaze Nature Network meets for the first time

Residents got together to share what they were doing for nature in Lockleaze and make plans for more action!

Last week, 18 local residents braved the pouring rain to come and meet each other, and start the Lockleaze Nature Network.

Residents chatted with each other and shared their nature memories and then had some lovely food provided by the Secret Soup Society.

They then shared updates about different projects they were involved with, which included the Really Wild Lockleaze Project, The Lockleaze Community Orchard, Stoke Park Volunteers Group, and the Lockleaze Green Gym, as well as hearing from local Resident Hannah who is Lockleaze’s new Avon Wildlife Trust’s Nature Champion, and who is wanting to start a campaign to stop sewage overflow into Horfield Brooke.

Residents then created a map of nature in Lockleaze, and shared ideas about how what the network could do, what help they needed to help nature, and what they could offer, as well as ideas about what a Lockleaze Nature Festival could look like.

Feedback included: “Amazing local community meeting!” and “So nice to meet so many positive people involved in nature”.

We hope the network will have enough support to meet again in the autumn - get in touch if you want to help make it happen!
