Creative Health in Action (CHIA) will celebrate, showcase and explore how the arts and creativity can have a positive impact on health and wellbeing. Live performance, film, stalls and exhibitions from over 25 groups and organisations from across Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, developed and delivered a mini project to showcase the positive impact of arts, culture and creativity on mental health and wellbeing in the community and the importance of community organisations working with healthcare providers, guided by residents, for the benefit of residents. Our October Art project recruited 6 local artists and creatives to deliver sessions for our long running Art for Wellbeing group, celebrating the wealth of talent within our community and creating an opportunity for residents to inspire and motivate each other through sharing and peer support. This project is one of the ways we create affordable opportunities for residents to take proactive measures to address their health and wellbeing through creativity.

It provided space for residents to connect, learn and discover together through a variety of mediums and produce some amazing pieces of artwork. It has been a highly successful, productive and positive project for everyone involved. Our thanks to our amazing and talented residents and to Sirona Healthcare for their support.

Lockleaze has a long association with drama and performing arts, and working with Unfold Community Arts we have also compiled a video featuring audio contributions from participants and performers about how taking part in community theatre has impacted on their wellbeing.
