Monday Motivation Spotlight On #ActiveLockleaze Project

As part of our partnership project #ActiveLockleaze we like to feature regular posts for our Monday Motivation or Spotlight On section.

This is just one of the ways we promote physical activities and sports opportunities in Lockleaze. By sharing providers and participants' personal stories we aim to inspire and motivate and encourage all residents to lead more active lives.

This week we focus on Redland Ladies Hockey Club.

Redland Ladies Hockey Club is offering some free coached hockey sessions this summer, thanks to a grant from Sport England and the National Lottery.

The junior summer sessions for Under 14s will be held at the hockey club’s new home pitch at Lockleaze Sports Centre on several Mondays during July and August.

The sessions are being run by Junior Lead Coach Cath Coombs.

Junior sessions for ages 10-14 are being held on Mondays 1st, 8th and 29th July and again on Monday 5th August. Sessions start at 6pm and will finish at 7.30pm.

Players of all ability welcome, (boys will need to be Under 12).

Lead Junior Coach Cath Coombs says: “We’re delighted to be able to offer these summer sessions at no charge, thanks to the Sport England grant. There’ll be skills, drills and fun games and we can provide sticks and kit.

“We’re looking forward to meeting some new junior players, especially those who live locally. It’s a great chance to come and try out the fantastic new pitch at Lockleaze and maybe have a go at a new sport.”
