Getting Ready to Light Up Lockleaze!
Over 50 residents of all ages got crafty and creative last week making 28 amazing lanterns and a lot of magical memories along the way. There was a lot of laughter, glue and glitter galore at both sessions.
“We all had so much fun and our lanterns look spectacular!”
‘ This is our first time making a lantern - thank you so much for a lovely morning’
“lovely to spend a couple of hours getting creative with friendly members of our community :) and great to have a free activity for the kids!”
Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust were delighted to arrange two workshops, where residents of any age could create a lantern ready for the parade, with expert tuition and support from Jody Cook and Abby Spence. It really was fun for all the family and got everyone in the festive mood.
“I learnt how to be calm while doing different tasks”
“Thank you for the help and ideas, just look at what we made!”
Missed out?
Don’t worry- you will get a chance to see all of the lanterns lit at the parade and tree light switch on- Sunday 1st Dec starting outside the Hub at 4 pm. Please bring a torch or a homemade lantern and join in and wear your festive jumper or fancy dress.
After the parade we will light the community Christmas tree, have some carols and then a hot drink at St Marys and St James.
Everyone is welcome!
“This is the 3rd year we’ve attended - the lantern making and parade are now part of our family Christmas tradition”
“We can’t wait for the parade!”
Our thanks to Goram Homes and Vistry Group for their contribution towards both workshops.
