Have your say on 140 homes on Dovercourt Depot!
Following the consultation earlier this year Bristol City Council are consulting again on proposals for the Dovercourt Depot site off Dovercourt road. You have until 30 September to respond to the consultation using the online survey link here
They have provided an extensive response to the initial consultation so worth reading to see if your concerns have been answered or if there are things that you think the Council have not heard. It is also worth contacting your Local Councillors David Wilcox and Heather Mack so they know your concerns, and joining Lockleaze Residents Planning Group, to keep up to date with developments and work with others to get your views heard.
One issue that we are interested in is whether the site should be housing or used for broader purposes? Development sites have a classification - this site’s current designation is for Industrial and Warehousing. It is the only employment site identified in Lockleaze, but if no employer plans to set up shop here there is a risk it might stay empty. When the Lockleaze Residents Planning Group responded to the Local Plan review they identified that they did not want Lockleaze to become solely housing but wanted a mix of housing, employment and shopping opportunities. We would be interested to know if that is still the case and what specifically, would people like to see on this site?
BCC are keen to build housing on this site, and for good reason with 16,000 in housing need on the the housing register in Bristol, 500 of them with a BS7 postcode, there is high demand for housing and insufficient homes for the people who need them.
To find out more look at the online survey. Also BCC are holding a drop-in event near the site on Thursday 16 September between 3:00-4:00 and 5:30-6:30 in the open space at the bottom of Dovercourt Road near Jack Knight House. This is weather dependent.
Should it be raining on the day, a virtual Zoom meeting instead will be held on 16 September from 5.30 – 6.30 this can be joined via the link below
Meeting ID: 865 3366 3857
Passcode: 438786
