Amazing Azeem from refugee to PCSO!
Some of you might remember Azeem from living in Lockleaze, the community survey or from when he worked at Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust as the caretaker. Azeem, came to Lockleaze from Pakistan where he was threatened under the Blasphemy laws. He was threatened with deportation, confined, then following public campaign and crowd funding for legal fees, was given leave to remain.
Now Azeem has successfully completed his training and been appointed as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) and will use his language skills, and his kind, approachable manner, to help people in the community and support the police and the community. We are so proud of Azeem and that with his big heart for helping the community he has now found a job that will use his skills and passions. We’re happy we could play a small part in supporting his journey through volunteering with us and then his first job in the UK. Azeem is being mentored by Lockleaze PCSO Cherie Broadfield so we will see him out and about in Lockleaze, if you see him make sure you say hi and wish him well!
