New Local Lettings Policy Survey
Local Lettings Policy
Have your say!
Hello everyone,
We hope you have been keeping safe and well! I wanted to share with you a quick update on how the Turner Gardens Gateway project to provide Community Homes has been progressing and what we have been up to...
Following our Summer engagement event on the Turner Gardens Green, we made changes to the design to better reflect conversations with residents around parking, landscaping and a wildlife corridor along Constable Road and Turner Gardens. More info on previous engagement events can be seen on our website.
In September we submitted our bid for the land to the Council. If successful this will enable LNT to secure control of the site for the community and progress the project towards submitting a planning application. We should find out the result of our bid by the end of the month so fingers crossed!
Whilst waiting for the land bid result we paused moving forward with further detailed design work. However, to see a summary of how the project's journey over the past 10 months, please see a summary report here.
During this time we have been business planning and speaking with banks, to make sure the proposal is financially viable.
We intend to submit our planning application in the coming 2-3 months and will be organising an exhibition - both online and hopefully at the Hub - to present the final drawings and proposals to the community, allowing people to ask any questions and give comments before submitting the application.
In the meantime....
We would love to continue the conversation around how new homes for social rent could prioritise people in the Lockleaze community, known as a Local Lettings Policy. We have learned through the development on Shaldon Road, that having a Local Lettings Policy can allow existing members of the Lockleaze community to benefit from the development, as well as soon to be Lockleaze residents in housing need from elsewhere in our wonderful city.
It is important that our own LLP reflects the views and needs of Lockleaze. This is why we have created the following survey that will really help to shape the direction of the draft policy.
Click here for Local Lettings Policy Survey
The survey will also be printed and placed in public spaces around Lockleaze that remain open. Although this Local Lettings Policy applies to the Community-led Housing project proposed on Constable Road / Turner Gardens, we intend to also use it to influence other developments in Lockleaze that have committed to using a LLP.
Next steps
We will be collecting all the survey responses received by Friday 26th November, so please try and complete the survey by then to have your first say. This will form the basis of an initial draft which will be discussed with Bristol City Council early December.
There will be further opportunities to view, discuss and feed into the Local Lettings Policy in the future as it continues to take shape.
If you have any questions or comments relating to the survey, local lettings or the community housing project in general please complete the final box in the survey or contact alex@lockleazent.co.uk.
Thanks!
