1200 trees planted by residents across Lockleaze!
We smashed our target of 1000 trees planted in one winter - well done guys!
Over 100 volunteers came together to plant all these trees - what a huge achievement! All the trees are native trees or fruit trees and will make a huge difference for nature, and our climate. An average tree over a 100 year lifetime will capture a tonne of C02 - so all together, thats 1200 tonnes of C02 that they will absorb!
We planted:
147 trees on three greens (Stanfield Close, Thornycroft Close, and Landseer Avenue)
203 trees at Muller Road Recreation Ground
112 trees in Stoke Park
475 trees at Lockleaze Sports Centre
15 apple trees grafted at a workshop to be grown locally
250 trees given away to Lockleaze Residents to plant in their gardens.
The trees included: Hazel, Elder, Rowan, Silver Birch, Hornbeam, Lime, Oak, Apple, Sweet Cherry, Dog Rose, Silver birch, Goat willow, Hawthorn, Crab apple, Dogwood, Blackthorn, Alder Buckthorn, Pear, Plum, Holly, Field Maple and Spindle berry. They will be a huge benefit to our wildlife, and we will all get to enjoy them!
