Local Lettings Policy Engagement Update
Our bi-annual community forum saw the latest opportunity for Lockleaze residents and community members to give their input into the emerging housing allocations policy - known as a Local Lettings Policy - that is currently being written. The LLP will apply to a percentage of new affordable homes built in Lockleaze and prioritise allocation of affordable homes available for rent to members of the Lockleaze community who are on the Home Choice register and meet the policy’s eligibility criteria. For more background information about the LLP, please feel free to follow the project’s journey in previous blogs here.
It was a really helpful session with members of Bristol City Council’s Housing and Enabling Team in attendance to help answer residents’ questions around what is possible from an administrative point of view (as this will be BCC’s responsibility once the LLP is in place).
We were there to invite feedback from the community regarding specific details of the policy. This work has been on a two year journey since consistent concerns from residents were raised about how new homes might benefit the existing community.
This has followed an open survey about the high-level principles of the LLP (see here) with 73 responses. The results from this survey were used to provide the initial draft, the specific details of which were then further consulted on at the community forum.
If you weren’t unable to attend the forum, don’t worry, we have compiled the questions asked at the event into another online survey should you wish to have your say.
The survey will run for a minimum of two weeks before the latest draft of the neighbourhood-wide LLP will be available for final comments.
