Co-Design Workshop #1
Full of inspiration from the previous Walking Tour and Community Housing Study Visits from across Bristol, Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust (LNT) and Barefoot Architects organised the first design workshop with members of the Lockleaze Community in relation to the Community-led Housing project at the end of Turner Gardens / Constable Road.
Informed by initial community conversations, the Barefoot Team brought lots of options and ideas about the overall form and layout of the site. Pitched roofs, flat roofs, terraced houses, courtyard houses, on street parking, integral garages, low boundaries, no boundaries and presented them on 3 boards.
The purpose of the Design Workshop was to demonstrate and explore what the different approaches to the houses and their surroundings can look and feel like. Residents were invited to use cardboard cut-outs of different house types to make a master plan and compose a site layout in order to discuss issues of what people do and don’t like.
