Peter's Blog about the Peace of Mind Sessions

Peter has regularly been attending our Peace of Mind Sessions, run by mindfulness coach Damien. There are beginners sessions and follow on sessions too. For more information about these sessions, get in touch with Jonathan on wellbeing@lockleazent.co.uk, 01179141129 or pop into The Hub.

Firstly with instruction from Damien, I learnt relaxing breathing methods which calm the body down, very useful in confronting stressful situations.  Also a body scanning method to let your body tell you of the stresses and strains that could be affecting the health of your entire body and relief of this by acceptance of their presence.

The benefit of taking time away from other distractions, to breathe deeply and relax, concentrating on your thoughts and feelings can bring you to a clearer understanding in dealing with everyday situations, good or bad, between sessions.

This produces acceptance of the person I was and in doing so how to change things that I could and accepting the things I could not change, simply knowing myself better.

This helped me look at others differently, not so quick to judge, taking time to assess situations more clearly and rationally before reacting.  I feel that I have gained a lot of insight from the course not only in my life and in the way I feel but also in my perception of people around me and in my relationships with them.
