#VolunteersWeek - Jonathan

Volunteers - A spotlight on the people who make a difference.

All sorts of people, for all sorts of reasons, volunteer.

As part of Volunteers Week we want to celebrate and show our appreciation for  some of the amazing people who support and contribute to Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust. We hope they inspire and motivate you to make the most of your neighbourhood.

Today the spotlight is on Jonathan, our Wellbeing Navigator.

I volunteer for a local foodbank where I am a trustee. I am in the process of becoming a CAP befriender to offer practical help to those working towards becoming debt free.

I am a calm, kind and sociable person. I enjoy trying new things with my family and friends and I enjoy going for walks and playing football

I started volunteering about 11 years ago in the foodbank. I wanted to get involved as I saw a need which I felt passionate about and wanted to do something about it.

At the foodbank as a trustee I am involved in ensuring good plans are in place for the day to day  running of the foodbanks, strategy and vision. I am also the lead person for safeguarding at the foodbank.

I like bouncing different ideas together as a team and being creative and finding solutions when the way is difficult. I have learnt so much during my 11 years at the foodbank which is constantly evolving. Making ongoing tweaks slowly is required.  I have been delighted to see how much support that we get at the foodbank from so many different people.

If you are considering becoming a volunteer my advice is to just do it!. You get so much more when you give!.

Thank you!

Thank you Jonathan, From the team at Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust.
