UWE Students Visit LNT to discuss the importance and value of effective community engagement.

This week we were delighted to welcome 23 first year planning students to The Hub. This is part of a rolling programme with UWE of twice yearly visits to discuss the importance and value of effective community engagement.

The students learnt about the role of Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, our local lettings policy and our community led housing project. We had a comparison and appraisal of some of the different materials from nearby developments and a discussion about the different housing types in Lockleaze.

As part of the visit we showcase one example of our work to highlight how we engage with residents and we focused on the Really Wild Lockleaze project. We also set a related challenge for the students-to create signs for the project to use around Lockleaze to identify wild ground not waste ground.

Their designs were engaging, colourful and will help raise awareness of rewilding and the spaces for nature across Lockleaze.

We finished the visit with a whistle stop tour of some of the main development sights and a visit to two of the greens being rewilded by residents.
