Have your say: Tree Planting in Lockleaze Open Space

Parks and green spaces are great places to see and enjoy wildlife, but we need to do more if we want nature to thrive.

We have used the West of England Nature Recovery Network (see: https://wenp.org.uk/nature-recovery-network/) to identify where we could best enhance and create new wildlife spaces.  This work is part of Bristol City Council’s Ecological Emergency Action Plan and will help deliver the One City Ecological Emergency goal of 30% of land in Bristol being managed for nature.

A draft tree planting plan has been designed for Lockleaze Open Space.  We are now asking for people’s views on these proposals. You can also view the plan online at: www.bristol.gov.uk/onetreeperchild

Subject to feedback, the Council’s One Tree per Child team will be planting trees this winter in partnership with the Forest of Avon Trust involving local primary school children and volunteers.  If you would like to join in, get in touch using the details below.

Our tree planting designs will consider the “right tree, right place, right reason”. We carefully assess the location, such as the proximity of trees to properties, the surroundings, highway, footway and grass verge widths; and the tree species such as size, colour and crown shape as well as maintenance requirements as it grows.

If you would like to comment on this draft tree planting plan, contact us by post or email as detailed below before 12th December 2022.
