Motivation Monday - The Lockleaze Wolves
As part of our partnership project #ActiveLockleaze we like to feature regular posts for our Monday Motivation or Spotlight On section.
This is just one of the ways we promote physical activities and sports opportunities in Lockleaze. By sharing providers and participants' personal stories we aim to inspire and motivate and encourage all residents to lead more active lives. This week we focus on The Lockleaze Wolves.
Hi Lockleaze!
Just in case you saw a bunch of girls wandering around the square last Friday in high vis and armed with litter pickers – it was us ☺ We were raising money to replace our netball hoop at the Vench.
We are the Wolves and are a sister team of “Lockleaze Foxes” (who are now also known as Wolves☺). We have been playing netball at the Vench for 4 years now. Sadly one of our hoops had been badly vandalised, so we decided to raise funds to replace the broken hoops.
It was great to see the entire team fundraise - everyone as they could – some did bake sales, others took over chores at home and with help of Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust who so kindly sorted us out with all the kit, and sponsored us, some of us set about litter picking Gainsborough square and some surrounding streets last Friday afternoon☺
The girls felt great being able to raise money for their new hoops, whilst at the same time doing something for our local community! Great to be out there and thank you for all the encouraging words on the day☺
In case anyone wants to join us: our Friday group is full, however we’d love for any girls aged 14-17 wishing to play netball to come and join us on a Monday night at the Vench.
