Big Butterfly Count 2023 is here!

The sun is shining, the butterflies and moths are fluttering and today sees the launch of the 2023 Big Butterfly Count - the world’s biggest survey of butterflies!

Last year over 64,760 of you took part and submitted a massive 96,257 counts to help us understand how these beautiful insects are coping in the face of a nature and climate crisis.

Sadly, as our State of Butterflies 2022 reported earlier this year, 80% of butterfly species have decreased since the 1980's - this drop is telling us that our wider natural world is in trouble.

Taking part in the Big Butterfly Count is an easy but meaningful way to help.
