#ActiveLockleaze Monday Motivation: Community Litter Picking

As part of our partnership project #ActiveLockleaze we like to feature regular posts for our Monday Motivation or Spotlight On section.

This is just one of the ways we promote physical activities and sports opportunities in Lockleaze. By sharing providers and participants' personal stories we aim to inspire and motivate and encourage all residents to lead more active lives.

This week we focus on another amazing resident family of Community Litter Pickers.

We regularly pick up litter around our house and pop it into our bin and have always meant to go further afield.  The litter picking kits from The Hub and a bit of sunshine was just what we (2 adults & 2 kids) needed for motivation, over a period of several days we managed to fill up 3 big bags.

The most disappointing thing about living in Lockleaze is the rubbish and the hesitation of people to pick it up (whether it is theirs or not).

Once the sunshine has degraded the plastic, a lawn mower has gone over it or trodden into the ground it is a thousand times harder to clean up.  It can feel hopeless, but we hope to continue cleaning up, pass a bit of positivity on and give everyone a boost!

Its great exercise and we enjoy being out and about together, making a difference in our neighbourhood.
