Monday Motivation #ActiveLockleaze Project: Young Litter Pickers
As part of our partnership project #ActiveLockleaze we like to feature regular posts for our Monday Motivation or Spotlight On section. This is just one of the ways we promote physical activities and sports opportunities in Lockleaze. By sharing providers and participant’s personal stories we aim to inspire, motivate and encourage all residents to lead more active lives.
This week we focus on Young People Litter Pickers- an update from December 2024 to February 2025.
Here is the second update from the 4 amazing young local residents who are litter picking in Lockleaze as part of their community volunteering towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. They started in November and are out and about each Saturday afternoon until March, aiming to complete 14 litter picks, whatever the weather.
The first session they collected 4 bags, weighing 13.34 kg and recorded almost 5000 steps.
The second session they collected 5 bags, weighing 13.92 kg and recorded 4600 steps.
The third session they collected 5 bags, weighing 20.25 kg and recorded 5200 steps.
The fourth session they collected 5 bags, weighing 22.3kg and recorded 7000 steps!
That means over the 7 sessions so far they have collected 35 bags of litter, weighing a total of 125.15kg and clocked up just over 35,800 steps!
These young residents are really making a difference in their community and Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust are pleased to support them taking positive action to help keep Lockleaze tidy.
Well done everyone!
