Who will run the Council next year......we don't know!

Last night a few residents met at Lockleaze Sports Centre to hear from Lockleaze Councillors about changes to Bristol’s mayoral system. In short - it is over!

In 2022 Bristol voted to end the Mayoral system from May 2024. There will now be a committee system, led by the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council (who will be appointed from elected Councillors by a meeting of Full Council). There will be 8 committees who decide things and those Chairs will have a key role, as will the party leads in each committee .

Still to be decided are how much power will be devolved to area committees, what about wider partners such as One City boards, sub-committees and how scrutiny will work (now that there is a committee system rather than a cabinet deciding how things are done).
