Lockleaze Wellbeing Guide #1: Arts Blog

By Jonathan Ford, Wellbeing Navigator

The Wellbeing Arts group meets each Thursday from 10.30am - 12.30pm at The Hub. It is open to all adults and all abilities. It is a friendly and supportive group that has space for and is welcoming of new members. You will be surprised by what you can make with some help from friends.

The lovely Phoebe who is a talented and nurturing artist, leads the group and has plenty of creative ideas for those who need inspiration. It costs £3.50 per session and the first session is free.

I asked some of the members who attend what they thought about the art group?

Here's what they said: "It's a really good group, friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere and no pressure" and "Everybody gets to do what they want to do and you get given nice ideas about different things that you could do. It keeps your mind active and you learn new things and you get to chat to people with similar interests".

Some of the things that members who attend the group do include: colouring, painting, drawing, making collages, making paper mache models, sewing, simple crochet, making Christmas cards and other Christmas crafts and someone is even making a suit!

Some of the members will be selling their art and Christmas craft items at the Table Top sale on 11th December from 11am - 3pm at the Cameron Centre. It would be lovely to see you there.
