Monday Motivation

By local resident, Natalie Jade

I have walked over Stoke Park so many times, but usually in my own world when doing so, so not really seeing the beauty anymore, I always walk the same couple of routes, which is just one of the many reasons I decided to go on a walk organised by Lockleaze Community Climate Action led by Steve England.

Being the mighty all knowing when it comes to Stoke Park, Steve made the walk fun and engaging, for kids and adults alike, getting everyone involved in picking and trying the different treasures Stoke Park offers.
Having been on nature walks in the past I found them either boring or too fast paced to comfortably keep up, by the time I catch up to listen the group has already moved on again, the pace of this walk was relaxed but enough to get the blood flowing and the steps counting upwards.

I learnt many things that nature had to offer on my doorstep and I went places in Stoke Park that I hadn't previously, knowing now where paths led I am likely to walk them again.

On a day of the week that I would usually chill out at home and be inactive it was a great opportunity to do something different, go out into our local green space, enjoy the fresh air and meet some other members of the community, I am usually quite hesitant to try new things but have been trying to say yes to something I would normally say no too at least once a month, the worst case is that I don't enjoy it or maybe even go home, but the best case is that you have a great time and feel inspired to do more things you wouldn't normally.
