The Light Project - Presentation and Workshops
Come together to make and light up the Lockleaze Memory Scroll with artist Tom McDonagh.
A creative community workshop for all ages in the Hub 10.30am - 1.30pm on Saturday 12th, 19th and 26th January, and completely FREE
Tom has been exploring how the act of making together could become a microcosm of civic life. He is developing a process by which he can co-assemble a temporary light pavilion for the neighbourhood, which will be both a social place and an artwork concerned with shelter and belonging.
You may have met him walking around the square at dusk or pitched up at Buzz. You can see more about the project at a presentation of the work so far at Pervasive Media Studio on 22nd January 5-6pm.
The second artists will also be there. Savinder Bual and Elena Blanco have been working on ‘Peephole’. Using a series of reclaimed doors, configured to create a colourful structure that represents home. Shafts of light will shine from the inside out through the gaps around the doors resembling a house at night.
They’ve been talking to various people in Lockleaze over the last few months and collecting special objects for the cabinet of curiosities that will be revealed behind the doors.
If you’d like to find out more contact Jess at the hub or come along to the presentation at PM Studios, just email natalie@triggerstuff.co.uk to RSVP
